Medlock Rangers JFC has been synonymous with the droylsden area for many, many years. However, in its present guise the club was established in May 1993 by Steve Wood, with the assistance of Tom Farrant, Tony Collins & Phil Picken, and that season entered two teams into a league, and established the clubs soccer school, which provided high quality coaching for children as young as five, ( and still remains the lifeblood of the club ). Due to the clubs growth over the ensuing years we now have 19 teams entered into leagues, from under 7's to under 17's and a girls team. In recent years the sports governing body has introduced measures to ensure that grassroots football met the required standards, with the introduction of the Charter Standard. Medlock Rangers achieved the Development Club award in August 2002, and shortly afterwards was invited to apply for the highest level, Charter Standard Community Club, which was awarded to the club in December 2002, at a ceremony attended by Sir Geoff Hurst and Eric Harrison. The club looks to maintain these standards by continual assessment and development to attain the highest possible standards of coaching and player development for the benefit of the children associated with the club.
